Counseling for Unhealthy Habits and Addictive Behaviors

If you've clicked here, you may be noticing:

You've been thinking about a bad habit you would like to change.  Maybe you need help figuring out how to quit or you want to change your use in another way.

  • You might have noticed you got back and forth between giving up on change ("To hell with it!"), deciding to quit 100%, or doing anything in between.

  • You know you're not helpless and have it in you to change even though sometimes it may have felt overwhelming and just not worth it.

  • Other people have hinted that you’re overdoing it without really knowing fully what they are talking about and that leaves you feeling justifiably defensive and angry.

  •  In the past you've felt judged or like other people have pushed you too hard to change and in a specific way.

  • Perhaps you've had success in changing in the past but find you need continued support, something keeps drawing you back.

  • If you’re struggling with drugs or alcohol, you may have tried treatment rooted in AA or 12-step in the past and not had success with it. It may have seemed that AA was the only thing out there.

There’s no denying life is hard and we all need a way to “check out” or “loosen up” sometimes to not loose our complete minds! Sometimes those same things that help us through can start to pull us out of balance further and become problems themselves. It's up to you to decide how to manage your relationship with those things. Still, knowing when we’re crossing the line can be a tough call.  With the right support, you can take an honest look at what IS working, what IS NOT working, and what your goals are - both in relation to your so called bad habits or addictive behaviors and also about life in general.

We can work on understanding how you can get to your goals, what threw you off from your goals in the past and what gets in the way now.  My goal is for you to understand yourself better.  It's not 12-step but it is still work.  If you're like me though, you don't mind putting in hard work for something that makes sense and you know is worthwhile.

You don't have to be stuck.
