You get high anxiety the night before your work cycle begins again.
I hear you. I have worked in healthcare for over 15 years and checked off all of the above. Being a social worker and nurse is an important part of my identity and I take a lot of pride in doing good work with my patients. So I know it's a heavy blow when circumstances make you feel like the work you do doesn't matter or, worse, like you don't have what you need to even do your job safely. These days, it feels like I've come full circle- to connect with my patients and my work in a way that is more meaningful and intentional than before I started to feel this way in the first place. Learning how to notice and tune into the ways we experience stress and address it in a different way is a key. There's a lot to that. But I know it's possible. You deserve to have your heart and soul back. The world is made better by our being whole.
You don't have to be stuck.
